The Role
This is a permanent opportunity in the Aeronautical Information Services Unit in Canberra.

As an AIS Quality & Service Improvement Specialist you will assist in ensuring Airservices obligations articulated within the ICAO, CASA and Airservices technical and safety requirements and applicable ISO standards are met.

You will support the Aeronautical Information Services (AIS) unit by providing accurate and timely operational and other support to all team members as and when required.


This role is a Safety Sensitive Aviation Activity as defined in the Civil Aviation Safety Regulations, 1998.

The Person


To be considered for this position, you must have a high-level understanding of AIS and its regulations as well as a sound knowledge of concepts and principles of quality management and evidence-based practice in the Aviation industry.

You must possess strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal, with the proven ability to communicate technical concepts and issues to a range of stakeholders, both internal and external, which include but not limited to staff within Airservices as well as external providers and regulatory bodies.

You will have a strong work ethic with the ability to effectively meet deadlines and priorities while ensuring accurate attention to detail.


Skills and Experience

You will have the following skills/experience:

  • Tertiary level qualifications in aviation or related discipline or relevant work experience, and/or 2 years or more aviation industry experience in a similar (recent and relevant) role.
  • High level understanding and knowledge of the AIS systems to provide better support within AIS unit.
  • Work productively in a highpressure environment and manage time effectively to meet strict timeframes in an environment where workload peaks and troughs are commonplace.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of accuracy and an exceptional eye for detail.
  • Aptitude and ability to accept responsibility for personal performance and development.
  • Strong numerical, written, and verbal communication skills, with a proven ability to effectively communicate technical concepts and issues to a range of stakeholder (e.g., novice, expert, customers, management, project leads).
  • Sound knowledge of the concepts and principles of quality management and evidencebased practice in Aviation industry.
  • Good knowledge and understanding of aeronautical terminology, demonstrated to equivalent of CASA Basic Aeronautical Knowledge level, BAK.
  • Microsoft Word and Excel skills to an expert level with experience working with other office products.
