What you'll be doing


The Domestic Family Violence and Sexual Assault Service (DFVSAS) is responsible for delivering sexual assault and domestic violence services across ISLHD, leadership and capacity building within these portfolios and within ISLHD Violence Abuse and Neglect (VAN) service system.

Working collaboratively with the DFV&SAS Clinical Leadership team and with guidance from DFV&SAS Manager, the Team Leader Shoalhaven is responsible for the management, supervision and professional development of DFV&SAS Counsellors across the Shoalhaven.

This DFV&SAS leadership role oversees the provision of timely, effective and high quality counselling and support services to:

  • people who have experienced sexual abuse (ie. children, young people, their non-offending family members and adults);
- adults affected by domestic and family violence (DFV); and,
- children under 10 years of age (and their families), presenting with problematic and/or harmful sexualised behaviours.

All NSW Health workers are required to have completed an up-to-date course of a COVID-19 vaccine (3 doses for Category A roles, 2 doses for Category B roles) which has been approved or recognised by the Therapeutics Goods Administration (TGA).

New applicants must have completed the vaccination course prior to commencement with NSW Health, or provide an approved medical contraindication certificate certifying the worker cannot have any approved COVID-19 vaccines available in NSW.

Acceptable proof of vaccination is the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) Immunisation History Statement or AIR COVID-19 Digital Certificate. Please provide proof of vaccination if available.

Selection Criteria

  • Applicants for this position must be female. This is a genuine occupational qualification and is authorised by Section 31.2H of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977, NSW.
  • Extensive direct clinical experience (post graduate Social Work / Psychology) conducting psychosocial assessments, therapeutic counselling, risk assessment and safety planning, advocacy, psychoeducation, report writing, group work and court support with people who have experienced trauma, namely sexual assault and/or family and domestic violence.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide leadership and high level clinical support and supervision within a multidisciplinary team environment.
  • Demonstrated advanced communication skills (both written and oral) and competence in the use of electronic information systems in addition to excellent negotiation, complex decision making, case planning and advocacy skills including the ability to interact constructively and collaboratively with a diverse range of stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated extensive experience in initiating, leading, completing and sharing quality improvement activities and service evaluation processes with other staff.
  • Current NSW Drivers Licence, with the ability to travel in accordance with position responsibilities.
