Teachers and school administrators employed at Karratha Senior High School in 2024 are eligible to receive an of $10,000 (pa, gross – to be adjusted pro rata for FTE and tenure). Eligible staff will receive a percentage of this payment on commencement at the school, with the remainder paid at the end of the school year. Staff must remain employed in the location until the end of the school year to be eligible to receive the second payment.

The ARI payment is in addition to other incentives that may apply in this school.

About the role

The successful applicant will ideally show the professional knowledge, practices and experience to deliver an engaging and relevant secondary school English curriculum. As part of this role you will engage and build productive working relationships with students and be involved collaboratively with your colleagues to improve student results.

The successful applicant should have the ability to work collaboratively to plan and implement effective teaching and learning plans. The successful applicant will ideally provide excellence in creating and maintaining a supportive and safe learning environment and provide educational opportunities and activities which enable students to achieve their highest potential. With effective interpersonal skills, the successful applicant will work closely with students, colleagues and the community to achieve the best educational outcomes for students.

The location and community

Karratha is an Aboriginal word meaning 'good country', and our city is one of the largest and fastest growing cities in the north of Western Australia. Nestled in the Ngarluma Country shoreline, the city of Karratha is known as 'Munjaree' - the heart of the West Pilbara Coast - and its size and central location make it the ideal base for exploring the local natural delights and adventure destinations.

Awe and ore can be found in equal measure in Karratha. This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
