A bit about the role
Join an established team, in this newly created role.


You will utilise your developed skill set to supervise and lead, with a focus on operations, best practice and safety.


You will work to schedule and coordinate staff throughout the municipality's centres in conjunction with other teams to ensure that assets are maintained at a high standard and are presented in a safe and aesthetically appealing way.


What you will do

  • Provide support with the coordination of policies, procedures and strategies pertaining to open space assets to ensure compliance with best practice and productivity levels
  • Contribute to the selection of fleet purchases to fulfil the Unit requirements
  • Maintain a sound working knowledge of relevant Council/Unit policies and procedures and ensure their compliance
  • Contribute to the development of annual plans and budgets and oversee budgets for the areas of responsibility
  • Ensure that operators monitor the maintenance requirements for plant, tools and equipment
  • Monitor productivity and quality of work within the Team
  • Assist in the coordination of regular staff performance reviews
  • Respond to emergency situations ensuring a timely and appropriate response

What you will bring

  • Tertiary qualification in horticulture or a related discipline (highly desirable)
  • Current Working with Children Check (desirable)
  • Current Victorian Drivers Licence
  • Ability to coordinate and lead a team
  • Ability to prepare documentation including operational procedures and reports
  • Proven computer literacy and experience in Microsoft suite of programs
  • Experience with business planning and risk management in Local Government environment
  • A continuous improvement mindset with a positive, proactive, and flexible attitude
