A bit about the role


As the Team Leader Arboriculture, you will supervise the Unit's resources, with a focus on all Arboriculture operations, best practice and safety.

You will also oversee the scheduling and coordinate allocated Arboricultural staff throughout the municipality in conjunction with other teams whose action may impact on their activities and tasks.


What you'll deliver

  • Oversee the organisation of resources for the daily delivery of all maintenance aspects relating to whole of life tree maintenance throughout the municipality
  • Provide support with the coordination of policies, procedures and strategies pertaining to tree assets to ensure unit compliance with best practice and productivity levels
  • Contribute to the selection of fleet purchases to fulfil the unit requirements
  • Contribute to the development of annual plans and budgets
  • Oversee and monitor contractors in area of responsibility to ensure compliance with contract specifications
  • Ensure the tree inventory data is maintained and updated in Treeplotter to ensure currency
  • Ensure that operators monitor the maintenance requirements for plant, tools and equipment, including fuel, lubrication and fluid levels encouraging staff responsibility for plant and equipment in their use and care
  • Monitor productivity and quality of work within the team and contractors
  • Assist in the coordination of regular staff performance reviews
  • Respond to emergency situations ensuring a timely and appropriate response

What you'll bring

  • Degree or diploma course in Arboriculture (Highly Desirable)
  • Cert II ESI Qualification
  • TRAQ Risk Assessment Qualification (Highly Desirable)
  • Intermediate level of competency with Microsoft Office products, particularly Word and Excel
  • Experience in and knowledge of Local Government environment and its services
  • Experience in accredited quality assurance and health and safety management systems
  • Experience in utilisation of computerbased tree inventory management systems
