About the role


Our Assets Planning Group is looking for an experienced
Principal Engineer - Water Planning to lead water source planning for the Integrated Water Supply, servicing Perth and the South West and Goldfields Agricultural region of Western Australia.

This is a full time, permanent role based in our Leederville office, reporting to the Manager - Integrated Water Cycle Planning (Metro).


What the role will offer

  • Lead water source planning for the Integrated Water Supply Scheme, including investigation and development of new desalination, recycling and groundwater schemes to support growth, meet the challenge of climate change and provide value for the community
  • Provide expertise and high level specialist advice to the business relating to water source planning and scheme and water network operations, covering groundwater, surface water, reuse, desalinated sources and bulk water transport
  • Interface with regulators, as well as internal source operations, water treatment and bulk water conveyance stakeholders, as part of water source planning activities to ensure sustainable, well integrated solutions for existing and future sources
  • Develop and mentor team resources to build long term capability for water source planning within the business.
  • Provide technical leadership to improve risk based asset management decision making processes for scheme water planning across the business
  • Manage project teams to address complex integrated water cycle management planning problems and technical innovation as required
  • Lead project teams to support the delivery of section or branch outcomes

Key skills and experience

  • Degree level qualification in a relevant Engineering or Science discipline
  • Extensive experience in a similar or related role essential
  • Experience in water source planning, groundwater processes, treatment and recycling or water efficiency would also be highly regarded
  • Experience of developing innovative solutions and contributing to strategic planning within the water sector
  • Authoritative knowledge of the principles, theory and practice of the field of work, as well as an awareness of broader developments relevant to the area
  • Experience of working with and influencing senior management and regulators
