About us:
The Australian Water Association (AWA) is a national not-for-profit organisation and Australia's biggest water network. Our Purpose is to inspire and drive a sustainable water future.

We work with almost 400 volunteers to provide opportunities for our members to Share, Connect and Inspirethrough our networks, events, programs and content.

We also contribute to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in our region through our International Program.

We have recently celebrated our 60th Anniversary and we are proud of the contribution that we have made to the water sector, through our members and to the quality of life and prosperity of all Australians and beyond.

The opportunity:

  • Be part of a dynamic Events, Awards and Digital team showcasing innovative Australian water knowledge and technologies on the national and international stage.
  • Manage and deliver premium inperson, digital and hybrid events on a state based, national and international scale, including multiday and multistream conferences, exhibitions, and webinars.
  • Manage the endtoend production of national and statebased events, from program curation and development, client engagement, technology requirements, through to financial management and post event reporting.
  • Manage and liaise with a variety of key internal and external stakeholders, including suppliers, venues, caterers, committees, sponsors, and our Member Engagement Managers in each state/territory to produce and deliver major statebased events.
  • Manage endtoend delivery of delegations to attend and exhibit at international conferences and exhibitions (e.g. Vietwater'23) (includes international travel opportunities)
  • Manage endtoend delivery of international delegations to attend Australia's largest water conference and exhibition (e.g. Ozwater'24), B2B introductions and study tours

What you'll need to succeed:

  • Cando attitude with a willingness to learn.
  • Appreciation of diversity and cultural sensitivities working with international partners
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in an Event Manager or similar role with demonstrated ability to manage events and exhibitions from conception to delivery.
  • Digitally savvy with proven experience delivering hybrid and digital events.
  • Ability to work with volunteer committees to deliver an event.
  • Selfstarter with commitment to the team's overall success
  • Ability to work across multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • An easy, helpful manner and a calm, unflappable approach will also prove very useful
