ABOUT THE ROLE

This role will be critical in continuing to drive the AFL's strong commitment to sustainability and deliver the AFL's sustainability goals. This position will play a key role in continuing to lead project teams, and supporting our industry and stakeholders deliver the AFL's sustainability framework, and producing strategic plans that drive real change.

The role will have a strong focus on commerciality and working pro-actively with multiple Industry Partners, AFL & Marvel Stadium departments and relevant Stakeholders in identifying collaboration opportunities to support programs, investment and awareness. The role requires the ability to collaboratively work with commercial partners on investment opportunities that deliver sustainable outcomes for all.

A DAY IN THE LIFE OF

Key Accountabilities:

  • Drive the industry leadership in sustainability framework, values and practices that protects the future of the game at all levels
  • Build relationships with key stakeholders and create new opportunities. Work with industry experts to conduct sustainability- or environment-related risk assessments
  • Take lead on internal and external Sustainability-led discussions and working groups to establish the position of SME with access to Commission and Executive
  • Lead the commercial aspect including continuing to drive opportunities with existing key partnerships and drive new opportunities that achieve sustainable and commercial objectives
  • Build on relationship with Footy for Climate team working together to support AFL and club sustainability initiatives and create awareness at local level.
  • Implement AFL's climate action plan with ongoing review of business impact, financial cost and opportunity
  • Work with AFL Strategy and Operations teams to identify areas for strategic programs and partnerships, piloting and evaluating the success of approaches, and developing co-ordinated rollout plans with existing and new partners
  • Continuing to drive AFL's upward trajectory in terms of financial performance and strategic development through integration of sustainability implementation plan
  • Establish industry partnerships and co-ordinate integration of third-party resources and content where appropriate
  • Work with procurement to innovate processes, products and services to drive efficiencies and effectiveness, and to stay abreast of legislative and market developments
  • Review sustainability program objectives, progress, or status to make sure compliance with policies, standards, regulations, or laws
  • Work with Marketing and Comms teams to formulate and implement sustainability campaign and/or marketing strategies
  • Work with Strategy to develop sustainability reports, presentations, or proposals for supplier, employee, partners, media, government, public interest, or other groups
  • Manage contracts, budgets and costs to ensure profitable growth for the AFL within the sustainability sector
