We are seeking a skilled Legal Counsel who will play a crucial role in managing legal files, overseeing claims, and ensuring efficient resolution of disputes.

You'll serve as the primary contact for processes such as Dispute Resolution Victoria (DBDRV) and provide valuable support in handling VCAT matters. Your expertise will extend to advising on general legal matters to the broader business, drafting essential correspondence and documents, and conducting thorough research to inform our legal strategies.

In this role, you will be responsible for the following:

  • Manage legal files, overseeing claims for efficient resolution.
  • Serve as the primary contact for Dispute Resolution Victoria (DBDRV), attending and managing conciliation.
  • Assist in VCAT matters, supporting preparation and proceedings.
  • Provide expert advice and draft legal correspondence using a comprehensive precedent database.
  • Conduct thorough legal research on regulations, legislation, and case law.
  • Engage effectively with customers and stakeholders.
  • Prepare briefs for case preparation, conciliation, and hearings.
  • Ensure timely data entry and deadline monitoring.
  • Offer general administrative support.

We are ideally seeking candidates who possess the skill and behavioural traits:

  • 2-3 Years Post-qualification experience (P.Q.E) in private practice or in-house.
  • Preferably, prior experience in construction law.
  • A Bachelor's degree in Law.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and communication skills.
  • A knack for strategic legal advice and dispute management.
  • Proven ability to prioritize tasks, work under pressure, and meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
