VG/ B The Senior Policy Officer is responsible for the oversight of four statutory ministerial advisory committees and the corresponding annual grant program, in line with Victorian Government guidelines and policy.

The role reports to the Manger Governance Support and Coordination in the Governance, Regulatory Improvement and Programs branch and will lead the supervision and professional development of a small team.

The Senior Policy Officer will engage with the industry membership of the committees, grant applicants and departmental subject matter experts to support the committees and the grant program, provide expert advice and drive continuous improvement.

To be successful in this role you will need to be client and solution focused, have a great attention to detail, ability to manage competing demands and be able to prepare governance advice and reporting clearly for a variety of internal and external stakeholders at all levels.

The successful applicant will have a high level of drive, integrity and resilience and actively contribute to the development of a culture of excellence, accountability, responsiveness.

Accountabilities Provide leadership and supervision to a small team, including building capability, employee engagement, performance management and developing a culture of excellence, responsiveness and flexibility.

Manage the oversight of four statutory ministerial advisory committees, including high level secretariat services and expert governance advice, coordinating and preparing meetings papers, monitoring actions, recording decisions, coordinating out of session papers, logistics and relevant reports, and appointing committee members, to the required quality and timeframes.

Manage the oversight of a consolidated grant program from four funds, including developing supporting systems, documenting procedures and processes of all the key program material, procurement, assessment and approval of applications, contract negotiations and milestone management, reporting to the ministerial advisory committee and stakeholders, and continuous improvements, ensuing compliance with the legislative and government requirements.

Develop and maintain effective relationships, working collaboratively with key stakeholders to develop, implement and maintain effective governance systems, processes and guidance material to support sound decision making to deliver departmental and ministerial advisory committee objectives.

Develop, prepare, review and present timely high-quality complex reporting, advice, briefs and correspondence for diverse stakeholders, ministers and senior decision makers, addressing potential implications and risks for government.

This is an ongoing position.
The work location for this position is Attwood, flexibility available with hybrid work arrangements available.
