As the Network Reliability Engineer, in our Reliability and Network Performance team this role will see you delivering detailed fault data analysis, perform investigations and provide a range of reports on the Distribution Networks performance. You will provide expertise and technical support to the Network Control and Operation team.

With a hybrid working arrangement , this role is based in Melbourne, Victoria and is part of the Network Control and Operations Team.

This role will deliver real outcomes, including but not limited to:

Conducting network incident investigations, monitor operation and performance for Distribution Feeder Automation (DFA), Rapid Earth Fault Current Limiter (REFCL) and review repetitive faults, conduct cost benefit analysis of improvement opportunities that deliver greater network performance. Monitoring performance and propose work scope for automation schemes and other operating opportunities to enhance network reliability, conducting options analysis and making recommendations along with providing technical advice and support to a variety of stakeholders. Observe Auto-Reclosers, remote control gas switches and DFA schemes to maintain high availability rate. You will use sound engineering skills to analyse and complete investigation to provide information to Ausnet stakeholders into distribution asset failures. Validating network outage incident data to support regulatory target reporting. Participating in comprehensive planning processes to assess network capabilities (long & short-term), assess emerging issues, and identify areas of the network where limitations are expected to emerge in the future, and develop contingency plans and network augmentation. Autonomously perform analysis on network events and prepare regular reports on major system outages and disturbances, and faulty equipment occurrences. Review and improve work processes, procedures and process documentation including development of HV Operating protocols. At the project planning stage, identify potential Network risks and provide alternate work staging or coordination to reduce potential constraints or reliability risk where appropriate.

You don't need to check every box; however, we are looking for a good combination of:

Experience in the electricity supply industry. Tertiary qualification in Electrical Engineering. An advanced level of reasoning skills and engineering judgement. Understanding of and Proficiency in using electricity distribution network management systems or relevant software. In-depth engineering knowledge to support electricity sub-transmission and distribution network innovation.​ Strong analytical skills and the ability to leverage data-driven insights to inform decision-making and optimise network reliability.
