Job Title: Site Reliability Engineer II

Join Microsoft's Azure Core New Tech team as a Site Reliability Engineer II and play a crucial role in the onboarding process of new hardware for Azure, High-Performance Computing, Office, and Edge Computing products.

About the Role

As a Site Reliability Engineer II, you will be responsible for automating the verification, management, and delivery of new hardware to Microsoft datacenters. You will work at the interface of software and hardware, creating technology to validate, onboard, and manage hardware throughout its lifespan.

The team is focused on automating the management and tracking of the New Technology onboarding process to bring new and innovative technologies to market faster. You will collaborate with various Azure teams, learn about emerging technologies, and bring change to Azure.

Responsibilities
  • Develop an understanding of the code, features, and operations of specific products at scale to contribute to incremental improvements in product availability, reliability, efficiency, observability, and/or performance.
  • Develop and test basic changes to optimize code and improve the observability, reliability, and operability of platform, system, or product components or features.
  • Engage with product engineering teams by participating in code/design reviews, regular meetings, on-call rotations, and incident responses throughout product development and operations cycles.
  • Identify opportunities to leverage existing tools and automation to enable product engineering teams to increase the velocity in which they can reliably and safely implement changes in production.
  • Design, develop, and maintain telemetry pipelines and monitoring tools that detail operations metrics of product components and features operating at scale.
Qualifications
  • 4+ years of technical experience in site reliability engineering, software engineering, network engineering, or systems administration.
  • OR Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field AND 1+ year(s) of technical experience in software engineering, network engineering, or systems administration.
  • OR Master's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 5+ years of technical experience in software engineering, network engineering, or systems administration.
  • OR Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field AND 2+ years of technical experience in software engineering, network engineering, or systems administration.
  • OR Master's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
