About the opportunity:

Working under the guidance of the Credit Control Team Leader in a fast-paced business setting, this role involves taking responsibility for managing a segment of the Aged Debt Ledger within the customer portfolio. Collaborating within a unified team approach, you will establish positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

Central to this role is the implementation of a professional, customer-centric, and risk-based approach to manage the ledger. This involves optimizing collections through timely follow-ups, resolving disputes, and streamlining account reconciliations to ensure efficient and timely cash collection in line with Cash Forecasts and targeted DSO. Additionally, you will be expected to identify strategies for continuous improvement to enhance operational efficiency.

You will be responsible for:

• Providing daily, weekly, and monthly reports on overdue accounts
• Monitoring and reporting late-stage debt and default accounts
• Preparing and issuing Stop Credit & Hold Lists and Limit Exposure Lists
• Forecasting weekly/monthly cash inflows in alignment with targets
• Reviewing accounts progressing to late-stage and default status
• Conducting payment performance analysis and assessing default probabilities
• Generating daily credit reports and making timely credit decisions in line with credit policy
• Developing proactive collection strategies to secure debt repayment plans and minimize doubtful debts
• Preparing credit submissions and recommendations for review
• Demonstrating strong investigative skills to identify root causes, implement corrective actions, and resolve bottlenecks in aged debt resulting from claims and disputes
• Handling major account and project claims and reconciliations

To excel in this role, you should have:

• A Diploma in Credit or tertiary qualifications in Business (Desirable but not essential)
• Proven experience in commercial Credit Control
• The ability to manage significant accounts
• Strong end-to-end process expertise
• Proficiency in Google applications (Intermediate level)
• Prior exposure to SAP Systems (Preferable)
• Intermediate Excel skills
• Effective administration and analytical capabilities
• Demonstrated negotiation and influencing skills
• Ability to communicate with stakeholders at all levels
• Strong interpersonal and professional communication skills
• Self-motivation, outcomes-driven with an adaptable 'can do' mindset
