Retail Technology is responsible for the world-leading application of technology and operations across every aspect of CommBank and Bankwest Retail - from innovative product platforms for our customers, to essential tools within our business. We also use technology to drive simplicity and better banking, an essential component of great customer service underpinning a strong emphasis on software development as a craft and the adoption of industry best engineering practices.

Our mobile team is the largest mobile team in the country. The team responsible for building Australia's number one banking app, used by over 5 million people every day. We build elegant, world-class solutions that go beyond design to improve the financial wellbeing of each user. As someone who naturally balances logical, deep thinking with imagination and design, you're a natural for coming up with great ideas. As a team we're constantly striving to be the best in digital, pushing the boundaries to provide an unrivalled, personalised user experience across every product.

As a Staff Engineer, you'll be responsible for leading, promoting continuous improvement, developing technical roadmaps, and improving the quality of technical solutions by implementing industry best practises. You'll also work closely with other technical leaders and product owners to document new changes and drive various initiatives. It will be key that you are able communicate well with the rest of the squad members, provide technical guidance and mentoring to the engineers in the team, while being exposed to some interesting challenges. Also, you'll be involved in all aspects of the delivery from solution design and development to production rollout.

Can utilise strong understanding of core business and technical strategies to deliver best business outcomes through technical implementation. Can mentor junior engineers and be able to contribute both individually and as a team player. Understands how to drive to an outcome – how to get stuff shipped, tested, and well considered. Are enthusiastic about leading and championing strategic practice development. Works well in teams and have strong collaboration skills in driving continuous improvement initiatives.

Tech Skills:

We use a broad range of tools, languages, and frameworks. We don't expect you to know them all but experience or exposure with some of these will set you up for success in this team:

Strong expertise with SwiftUI and Concurrency Hands on experience with iOS development and Apple SDKs Working knowledge of design systems/ clean architecture Familiarity with multithreading concepts Understanding of CI/CD pipeline – Jenkins, TeamCity Experience developing testable and observable systems – TDD, Unit test, UI test and snapshot test Experience in monitoring app health, crashes, and logs - AppD, AppCenter or AppDynamic , Splunk
