The Opportunity:

  • Lithgow City Council _has an exciting opportunity for a
    LEEP Engagement Officer to join their team.


The LEEP Engagement Officer will help implement the community engagement, communication, strategy, reporting, and other allied actions recommended by the Lithgow Emerging Economy Plan (
LEEP).


You will be responsible to deliver, including through collaboration with others, the economic development priorities for the City of Lithgow.

Key activities include oversight of the development, monitoring, implementation and regular review of LEEP's strategic community engagement, communications, governance, and reporting framework.

Largely, this will occur through the use of the LEEP stakeholder engagement framework and applicable technical working groups, ensuring the bi-directional flow of quality information and value between stakeholder groups, thereby contributing to exceptional decision making and project outcomes.


A key part of the role will also be identifying expertise and capability gaps within the LEEP team and scoping tasks for suitably qualified external resources to assist with implementation.

More specifically, your duties will include (but will not be limited to):

  • Oversee the development, monitoring, implementation and regular review of LEEP's strategic community engagement, communications, governance, and reporting framework.
  • Prepare and advance potential project briefs and specifications to inform annual LEEP action plans and strategies, including projects and programs related to participatory governance and other stakeholder engagement activities,
  • Coordinate the submission of funding bids, monitoring and advising on the grants available for community and stakeholder engagement, placemaking, community empowerment and inclusion, including government grants.
  • Liaise with LEEP Partners and stakeholders to contribute to a shared coordination of LEEP engagement efforts.
  • Assisting with statutory and other reporting, including minute taking, monthly progress reports and annual reports on the transition management actitives
  • Monitor, report and keep accurate records on the progress of projects and programs, including monitoring and advising on financial budgets, and

About you:

  • Tertiary qualification and/or significant experience in Communications, Brand Management, Community Engagement, Media, Marketing and Public Relations or a related discipline, in the context of a transitioning or developing economy
  • Class C drivers licence
  • Minimum of three years demonstrated experience in the field of communications, including a working knowledge of media and journalistic practices
  • Proven ability to communicate effectively with people at different levels, and strong editorial and writing skills
  • Significant experience in the delivery and management of a broad range of communication, engagement and marketing services
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing a corporate communication and public relations strategy, as well as related policies and procedures
  • Experience in the management of an organisation's brand, public image and profile
  • Welldeveloped research skills.
  • Ability to work independently and set priorities, initiate, organise and complete work to meet deadlines, and manage multiple projects
  • Previous experience in a similar role within a government organisation (local, state or federal), and a proven knowledge and understanding of government processes and reporting protocols
  • Demonstrated experience in graphic design, preparing publications for print and liaising with external design providers
  • Experience in web page design and administration
