About Your Next Opportunity

Sullivan Nicolaides Pathology now has an opportunity for a part-time Pathology Services Assistant to join their dynamic team in Cairns Laboratory. This position offers shifts Monday to Friday between 4 pm – 8 pm, with inclusion in a rotational Saturday roster.

Some of the more specific responsibilities of the position will be to:

  • Registration of patient data into the Laboratory Information System
  • Data processing, receiving and sorting
  • Preparation, registration and distribution of pathology samples
  • Batching and preparation of specimens for transport
  • Data entry and communication with patients and referrers

The successful applicant will have excellent phone mannerisms, be able to multi-task, work autonomously or as part of a team and have excellent attention to detail. Previous experience working in a healthcare setting and an understanding of medical terminology is desirable but not essential.

Please Note: You will need a current driver's licence.

About You

In this role, you will be enthusiastic, possess good communication and organisational skills, and will have the ability to work both autonomously and as part of a busy and multi-tasked team. Crucial to your success is a high level of commitment to customer service, laboratory turnaround times and accuracy of processing.

​​The successful applicant will possess knowledge of medical terminology, specimen processing, data entry experience, and communication skills.
