Our client is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Commercial / Trade Finance Manager to join their dynamic team in either Melbourne or Sydney.

The Commercial / Trade Finance Manager will play a pivotal role in driving the financial success of our client's operations in Australia by overseeing and optimizing commercial and trade finance activities, including collaborating closely with the bid and sales teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Financial Analysis: Conduct in-depth financial analysis to support strategic decision-making and provide insights into commercial opportunities and risks.
  • Contract Negotiation: Lead negotiations for commercial contracts, ensuring favourable terms and conditions while mitigating risks.
  • Trade Finance Management: Manage trade finance transactions, including letters of credit, guarantees, and documentary collections, to facilitate international trade operations.
  • Collaboration with Bid and Sales Teams: Work closely with the bid and sales teams to structure financing solutions for complex projects, including assessing financial viability and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Risk Management: Develop and implement risk management strategies to safeguard our client's financial interests and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Cash Flow Management: Monitor cash flow and liquidity positions, optimizing working capital management and minimizing financial risks.
  • Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders, external partners, and financial institutions to support business objectives.
  • Financial Reporting: Prepare and present accurate and timely financial reports, including variance analysis and forecasting, to senior management and stakeholders.
  • Process Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvement and efficiency gains within the commercial and trade finance functions, driving continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field. MBA or postgraduate qualification preferred.
  • Proven experience in commercial finance, trade finance, or related fields, ideally within the renewable energy or manufacturing industries.
  • Strong financial acumen and analytical skills, with the ability to interpret complex financial data and make strategic recommendations.
  • Excellent negotiation and contract management skills, with a track record of successful deal-making and risk mitigation.
  • Knowledge of international trade finance instruments and regulations, including letters of credit, bank guarantees, and Incoterms.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial modeling tools. Experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) is desirable.
  • Proactive, results-oriented mindset with a strong drive for continuous improvement and innovation.
