Aurizon is currently seeking to fill a Freight Operator at our Mackay Depot. About the role:

Due to internal movement, our Mackay depot is seeking a Freight Operator for a permanent position to join their team. Ideally with recent experience, you are able to display superior teamwork skills, flexibility, a high level of safety awareness and customer service.

  • Shunting and yard duties (including cleaning)
  • Examine and certify trains as ready for departure.
  • Undertake the theoretical and practical components of the training program.
  • Ensure that the loading and unloading of customer's products are carried out efficiently and safely.
  • Conduct brake testing of trains.
  • Effectively communicate with other depot personnel face to face and via two way radio.

About you:

  • C Class Manual Drivers Licence (mandatory).
  • Strong commitment to safety.
  • Mechanical aptitude.
  • Shunt Qualified or previous rail yard experience. (mandatory)
  • Strong problem solving and communication skills.
  • A willingness to work a 24/7 roster and shift lengths of up to 12 hours.

As a part of the company's recruitment and selection process shortlisted applicants will be required to undertake psychometric testing, criminal history check and successfully pass a pre-employment health assessment that will involve drug and alcohol screening.
