The Opportunity
This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated individual to be part of the Environmental team on the VNI West Project dedicated to playing their part to enable nation-building renewable energy projects that will provide on-demand energy and large-scale storage for many generations to come


Reporting to the Environmental Manager, VNI West Major Project in your new role as the Environmental Business Partner, you will be delivering and completing Environmental planning advice and approvals required for Transgrid's Programs of work affiliated with VNI West as well as developing and delivering high quality and timely environmental assessment documentation and approvals.


You will have a solid understanding of the NSW Environmental Planning Legislation with extensive planning experience with regards to State Significant Infrastructure (SSI) projects under Part 5 of the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act.

If you have an element of linear construction/ infrastructure experience this would be an added bonus.

You will have a focus on and be able to effectively influence and manage expectations at all levels. A self-starter, you will thrive in a busy and ever changing, fast paced environment and will enjoy working autonomously.

The Project


Projects such as VNI West represent once-in-a-generation opportunities to shape the NSW and Victorian transmission network in a way that delivers the best possible value to electricity customers over the long term.

VNI West is the transmission interconnector between New South Wales and Victoria.


Targeted interconnector expansion between these regions will help to address transmission network limitations and improve supply reliability as ageing coal-fired plants retire and access to competitively priced electricity from renewable generators and energy storage becomes critical.


About you

  • Tertiary qualification at degree level in an environmental planning/ management related discipline.
  • Experience preparing and critically reviewing large volumes of complex environment related technical studies e.g., heritage (European and Indigenous), noise, water, contamination, etc
  • Good understanding and demonstrated experience in the use of geographic information systems related to environmental planning and management.
  • Understanding of the environmental and social aspects and impacts of large linear infrastructure projects including electricity supply projects.
  • Experience in the management and preparation of environmental impact assessments in NSW in accordance with Part 5 of the _Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979._
- _In line with the above experience in the management of projects declared as "Controlled Actions" under the Commonwealth Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation (EPBC) Act 1999_

  • Experience in the management of contracted environmental specialist services.
  • High level of written and verbal communication skills and interpersonal skills.
  • Sound project management skills
  • Ability to selfmanage, work under pressure and work in a team environment.
  • A current driver licence.
