We currently have rewarding career booster opportunity as a Subcontract Specialist within our Maritime Australia line of business to be based Adelaide, South Australia.

This role can be flexible for Melbourne based talent with right skills and experience and hybrid working arrangement and 9 days a fortnight full time working arrangements are on offer as well.

Your new role:


Reporting to the Senior Subcontract Manager - Hunter Class Program, you will get an opportunity to manage combat systems' major subcontracts to meet the project requirements of cost, quality and delivery through effective contract management and the facilitation of working relationships with the supplier, their supply chains and internal stakeholders.

In addition, you will get an opportunity to manage high value, high risk complex contracts for our combat systems area supporting our largest shipbuilding program

More specifically, you will

  • Coordinate the development of procurement strategies which balance the head contract principles of mínimal changes and maximise Australian industry capability
  • Establish engaging relationship with combat systems OEMs to enable deep understanding of the long term program requirement and deliver mutually beneficial outcomes
  • Manage major subcontract change effectively to ensure that the impacts are minimised, communicated and fully understood and work in partnership with Australian Industry Capability (AIC) to support the development of contractible subcontractor AIC plan
  • Proactively manage the performance of suppliers to achieve the requirements of the contract from a schedule, cost and quality perspective, embedding the relevant key performance indicators
  • Adhere to head contract obligations through effective commercial management of subcontracts including payments, claims, warranties, cash flow and flow down of contract amendments
  • Ensure that emerging risks are identified, costed, monitored and managed and effectively implement business systems, processes and internal control to ensure legislative compliance

About you:

As an applicant for this opportunity, you'll have:

  • Demonstrated relevant experience in subcontract, procurement or commercial management in an engineering or defence organisation
  • Sound commercial acumen with a proven capability in negotiation with an ability to balance conflicting priorities to deliver against customer requirements
  • Confident oral and written communicator coupled with an ability to build effective relationships with business representatives, customers and suppliers
  • Strong stakeholder management skill, results orientated, focusing on the key objectives and striving for effective outcomes
Whilst not essential, degree qualification in engineering, procurement or commercial discipline, or a membership of the Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply (MCIPS) is desirable

Clearances:


As Defence security clearance is required for this role, applicants must be Australian citizens and eligible to obtain and maintain appropriate clearance.

International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) are applicable and as such, your nationality may be a factor in determining your suitability for this role.
