Valuation NSW (VNSW) is currently seeking a
Managing Valuer to join their Special Valuations team.


As the Managing Valuer, you will lead a small team in the provision of professional, expert and authoritative property and valuation information and technical expertise consistent with legislation, policy and community standards and expectations.

You will also develop high standard data and reports for valuation services and build relationships with our expert valuers, industry experts and landowners to produce world-class valuations.


This is a key role which identifies and manages complex, difficult or politically sensitive valuations for statutory and non-statutory purposes; and applies statute, case law and policy consistently to ensure quality outcomes are achieved.

Role Description:
Managing Valuer

About you

  • Specialist expert knowledge and extensive experience in statutory valuations.
  • Certified Practising Valuer with Associate membership of API or Chartered Valuer status with Associate membership of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors.
  • Expert knowledge of relevant legislation and case law.
  • Strong communication, relationship management and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Strong leadership skills with experience in managing a team.
  • Current driver licence and willingness to travel.

About Us

The Valuer General is an independent statutory officer, appointed by the Governor of New South Wales to oversee the State's land valuation system.

Valuation NSW provides services to, supports, and where appropriately delegated, delivers relevant functions on behalf of the Valuer General of NSW

This includes:

  • Defining and setting the standards and policies for the land valuation system for rating and taxing purposes along with the determination of compensation through the compulsory acquisition process to ensure integrity within the NSW Government is upheld.
  • Monitoring, quality assurance and governance pertaining to the quality of the valuations undertaken relevant to both the Valuation of Land Act 1916 and the Land Acquisition (Just Terms Compensation) Act 199
  • Providing other specialised valuation activities, services and determinations as/when required for other cluster or statewide government partners; and
  • Providing professional leadership and stewardship to the valuation industry.
