About The Role

The Sourcing Platforms team at a prestigious Federal Government Agency is in search of a skilled User Experience Designer.

The team is responsible for managing the BuyICT platform, a crucial tool that streamlines Whole of Government digital procurement through hosting various marketplaces, panels, and single-seller arrangements.

As a User Experience Designer, you will have a pivotal role in enhancing the functionality and user-friendliness of the BuyICT platform. They are looking for someone passionate about creating captivating and seamless user experiences, ensuring each interaction is intuitive and beneficial for users.

Key responsibilities:

  • Collaborating with user researchers and a Product Manager to deeply understand user needs, behaviors, and challenges.
  • Working closely with the product manager to grasp requirements and business limitations, while aligning design solutions with strategic objectives.
  • Working with fellow designers to brainstorm and prototype solutions that effectively address core user needs and challenges, promoting a collaborative design atmosphere. Iterating designs based on stakeholder input and usability testing to prepare for development.
  • Ensuring all designs are user-friendly and comply with design principles focused on users and accessibility standards.
  • Closely collaborating with developers to comprehend technical constraints and create detailed interaction specifications for implementation.
  • Maintaining a holistic view of the user experience to guarantee consistency and harmony throughout the platform.
  • Managing internal design systems to sustain long-term consistency across the platform.

Essential Criteria

  • User-Centered Design Proficiency: Candidates should showcase a strong ability to design and improve intuitive and captivating user experiences that meet user needs and expectations, while adhering to Web Content Accessibility Guidelines.
  • Collaborative teamwork: Candidates must effectively work within a team setting, engaging with user researchers, developers, product managers, and stakeholders to align design solutions with business goals.
  • Technical and Adaptive Design Proficiency: Profound comprehension of design tools is crucial (e.g., Figma and Miro), along with the ability to create designs at various fidelity levels tailored to project requirements and objectives.

Desirable criteria

  • Familiarity with the basics of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript can be advantageous, enabling a more holistic approach to user experience design understanding of technical constraints and fostering closer collaboration with development teams.
  • Agile Development Experience: Knowledge of Agile methodologies can be helpful, supporting a flexible and responsive design approach that complements rapid development environments.
