About Challenge
Our Disability Services - Day Programs are designed to assist our Clients live the life they deserve, in a centre where clients come to enjoy activities and engage in the community whilst gaining life skills and confidence.
Our Day Program sites cater for individuals with varied support needs, which may include Clients who use wheelchairs and other aids, need assistance with personal care and other additional support for our clients medical and care needs.
Clients may attend weekdays or weekends for day programs or community participation engaging in programs that are appropriate to the individual's level of disability and identified goals.
Our Support Workers engage with clients to develop skills through activities and structured programs like cooking, music, craft, leisure sports, reading, singing any much more.
We have a Client run Café that caters to the public and "The Shed" where Clients learn skills in woodwork.
We are looking for people who may not have experience as Support Workers but have skills and abilities that can be used to bring enrichment and new experiences to the people we support.
Are you a cook, gardener, carpenter/joiner, teacher, or have a unique interest or skill and want to enrich someone's life, support them to learn something new and build their own skills and abilities increasing their independence.
The role
The role of a Disability Support Worker, Day Programs, is to provide support to our clients with a disability; with a strong focus on developing the skills of each individual by enriching their lives through creative activities that they can enjoy and participate in.
We are looking for people who have the availability to work 8:00 am - 4:00 pm or 9:00 am - 3:00 pm, we may also be required to provide in home supports for clients and this may require afternoon & night shifts.
Essential Selection Criteria
- Australian Drivers Licence
- First Aid certificate or the willingness to get one within the on boarding stage
- Current NSW Working with Children Check
- NDIS Worker Screening Check
- NDIS Worker Orientation Module
- Flexibility to work within a service that provides Daily care
- Competent with Microsoft Office suite particularly MS Word and MS Outlook.
- Covid 19 Vaccinations status including booster
- Pre Employment Assessment with full functional drug screen
Desirable Criteria
- Certificate III or IV in Disability Support or equivalent.
- Demonstrated understanding in the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) processes.
- Mental Health First Aid.
