***:About the role:
As Melbourne Polytechnics (MP) People and Culture Business Partner (P&C BP) you will be responsible for providing operational human resources (HR) business partnering advice and guidance to managers across various departments.
As a Business Partner, the position will assess and anticipate HR related needs, and through collaborative partnerships across the organisation, deliver value-added service to management and employees in line with creating a positive employee experience.
Duties:
HR Advisory
You will have a portfolio of departments you will manage and work closely with to ensure appropriate, consistent and accurate HR advice is provided to not only management but to employees as well.
HR Services
You will need to support our hiring managers in a variety of services:
- Providing support and guidance throughout the recruitment phase
- Support managers with workforce planning and projections
- Assisting in position classifications that are consistant with Enterprise Agreement requirements and Institute processes
- Support managers in developing position descriptions ensuring classifications are in accordance with relevant agreements and organisational policy.
- Support hiring managers in the effective onboarding of new employees ensuring procedures relating to minimum period of employment and probation are completed in a timely manner.
- Facilitate the termination of employment process for redundancy/ resignation/ retirement/ contract cessation and termination.
- Act as a Complaints Officer in accordance with organisation's
HR Administration
Support the managers with variations of employment and changes to employee conditions e.g. change of time fraction, higher duties, allowances, contract renewals and overseas assignments.
This includes collaborating with Payroll to ensure all salary-related matters are processed correctly and on time and that employee records are maintained correctly.
You will be required to, administer all conversions, contract renewals extensions and variations for existing employees, including but not limited to data collection, mail merge prep and bulk preparation.
Data Management
- Assist in the system administration for the Melbourne Polytechnic HR/Payroll system (CHRIS) including position management, workplans and VCMs submitted.
- Collaborate with the team in the development, implementation, evaluation and refinement of the Human Resource Information System to ensure optimum value is obtained.
- Collaborate with the Human Resources Administration Assistant ensure that the Melbourne Polytechnic employee portal is kept up to date to ensure accuracy of information.
Skills and experience required:
Mandatory
- Tertiary qualifications in HR, Business, Psychology/Organisational Psychology, Organisational Development, Employment Law or a related discipline
- Strong experience as a generalist and multidisciplined Human Resources practitioner in a multisite organisation and a unionised workforce
- Extensive knowledge of Human Resources issues gained through stakeholder business partnering
- Strong experience in interpreting and providing advice on legislation, case law, regulatory and enterprise agreements
- Experience in sensitively, confidentially and fairly managing people issues with solid knowledge of the legal parameters of the employment relationship
