About the role


This position is part of a small, high performing team committed to the development and implementation of innovative library programs and projects connected to the State Government funded First 5 Forever family literacy initiative.

We are seeking a motivated, positive, and flexible team member with a passion for engaging with children 0-5 years, families, and community partners in the delivery of a range of early literacy experiences across the Ipswich region with an emphasis on best practice.


Some of your key responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting in the development and promotion of local First 5 Forever intiatives for children 0-5 years and their parents and caregivers
  • Delivering dynamic and engaging library early literacy programs in a wide range of venues and outdoor settings
  • Building connections with families and community to promote First 5 Forever messaging and ongoing library engagement
  • Assisting in the daytoday operations of the First 5 Forever program

About you


Ideally you will possess a relevant qualification in a field related to early year's education and training, or library and information services or minimum education Year 12 or equivalent, together with experience to carry out the range of duties required.

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Diploma of Applied Science (Library Technician) or equivalent qualification in a field related to early years education and trianing from a recognised institution; or year 12 education and a combination of experience, training and competence that enables the incumbent to carry out the range of duties required
  • A current Queensland 'C' class driver's licence
  • Working with Children Check
  • Issue of Blue Card and Positive Notice Letter (issued by the Queensland Government) or Exemption Card, _or the ability to obtain prior to employment_
  • A preemployment medical will be required for this role


This position will be required to undertake a range of manual handling tasks which may include setting up for events, moving trolleys, loading, and unloading vehicles, moving filled crates and boxes, and driving a range of Council's vehicles.

This is a part-time role fixed term to 30 June 2026 working 19 hours per week, Level 3 with a salary package commencing at $74,497 plus superannuation of up to 12.25%.
