About the role:

Under the supervision of the Finance Manager, this position combines management and financial accounting duties with a primary emphasis on business collaboration. The role offers direct assistance to the business across all management and monthly financial accounting aspects. While based mainly at MSAC - Albert Park, the position takes a holistic organizational approach, covering all State Sport Centre venues, such as Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Centre (MSAC), Lakeside Stadium, State Netball and Hockey Centre, and Knox Regional Sports Park, and will collaborate with another Finance Business Partner.

Required skills and Qualifications:

  • CA / CPA qualified [or nearing completion, i.e. pending final exam];
  • Comprehensive understanding of modern management and financial accounting issues, standards, and practices, and a commitment to staying updated on knowledge, through a best practice approach, both independently and collaboratively, as needed.
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in a similar position
  • Maturity, initiative, and resilience, with the capacity to keep a composed, thoughtful, and logical approach to tasks and problem-solving
  • Extensive technical accounting and tax knowledge
  • Wide-ranging comprehension of business procedures and essential drivers
  • Strong business acumen
  • Excellent analytical skills
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain complex financial information to non-finance professionals in a relevant, engaging, and understandable manner
  • Proficient in IT, particularly in Microsoft Office and Excel
