Period of Appointment

Appointment to the role is on a fixed term full time flexible basis (up to 73.5 hours per fortnight) for two years.

Duties

  • Lead the development of policy and program priorities to reduce the State's greenhouse gas emissions and build resilience to the impacts of climate change.
  • Initiate and manage climate change initiatives and projects for the Tasmanian Government.
  • Undertake high level research and provide expert and strategic advice to the Minister through the Director, Climate Change and CEO ReCFIT on climate change issues as they impact on Tasmania.
  • Undertake high level liaison, negotiation and consultation with relevant stakeholders including the Australian Government, State and Local Government agencies, the scientific community, industry and the community sector to progress the activities of the Climate Change Office.
  • Represent the Climate Change Office, ReCFIT division, and the Department with stakeholder engagement with both the private and public sectors, including whole of government and inter-jurisdictional committees and panels.
  • Assist with corporate planning, policy and procedure development and administration of the team and Division.
