Operational Service Officer - Charters Towers

Charters Towers Health Service are seeking a client focused Operational Services Officer to join their friend and supportive team. This is a temporary full-time role, up to six (6) months.


The Operational Services Officer will undertake operational support primarily in the laundry, or could be redeployed to catering, cleaning and porterage at the Charters Towers Health Service.

Charters Towers Health Service , is a 25-bed facility located in Charters Towers and is a level 3 (CSCF), non-birthing, 23 bed rural hospital with ambulatory services.

Ambulatory services include community health nursing, child health nursing, midwifery group practice (non-birthing), advanced health worker, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, speech pathology, social work onsite and a Home Care service.

As an employer we are seeking to attract and retain a diverse and skilled workforce and we are committed to HARNESSING THE POTENTIAL OF OUR PEOPLE.Role responsbilitiesUndertake operational services in laundry, kitchen, cleaning and porterage as determined by the Operational Services Supervisor.

Laundry Service is responsible for providing the efficient washing of linens and personal clothing, pick-up and delivery across all facilities including driving a light body truck with a C class licence.

Sort linen and clothing as per guidelines, operate washing machines, dryers, rollers, and ironing machines including loading and unloading as per guidelines.

Fold and prepare linen and resident clothing.

Kitchen Service is responsible for the serving and delivery of daily meals to CTHS inpatients, as per dietary requirement list.

Cleaning kitchen and staff dining room areas. Other duties as per duty statement.

Cleaning Service is responsible for efficient cleaning of designated areas, including the hospital ward, clinical rooms and amenities, while being aware of set protocols like Infection Control, correct PPE.Porterage Service is responsible for providing assistance to Nursing staff with transfer of patients., Also for specialised cleaning in areas like theatre.

Porterage is also responsible for preparation of the helipad before an incoming flight. Various other duties as per duty statement.
The Operational role is physical in nature.
Salary rates between $ $ p.f. (OO2)Annual leave loading + leave12.

Proof of possession of a current licence must be provided before commencement of duty.

Aged Care Pre-Employment Screening:
Applicants are advised this position works in an identified Aged Care Facility as per the

Aged Care Act 1997

and therefore requires employees and volunteers to have a current National Police Certificate. Queensland Health will facilitate applicants obtaining the above National Police Certificate.

The ideal applicant will be someone who has proven ability and can demonstrate the following:
Proven ability to successfully perform all physical requirements of the positions.

Sound interpersonal skills, including ability to communicate effectively both verbally and written, across a range of people and situations, and to work as a team member.

Ability to maintain confidentiality and to respect the privacy of clients' while maintaining professional boundaries.

Proven ability to be both flexible, reliable, and adaptable in a community-based and hospital-based service delivery setting, together with the ability to demonstrate initiative, and ability to follow directions, in a work environment.

Excellent time management skills including the ability to follow structured roster of duties.
