The Department


The
Women's & Children's Health Network provides state of the art health care for women, babies, children and young people across South Australia.

We are the state's leading provider of specialist care for children with acute and chronic conditions as well as being SA's largest maternity and obstetric service.


Our community-based services also reach hundreds of thousands of vulnerable babies, children and young people, their families and communities across South Australia through our various services and programs in areas such as our Mental Health, Child & Family Health services, Youth Health and Aboriginal Health services.

Child and Family Health Service is South Australia's Navigator for the The National Perinatal and Infant Mental Health - ForWhen Program.


This program (NPIMH ForWhen) provides a national comprehensive, stepped continuum of care for parents particularly those experiencing moderate/severe PIMH concerns.


The Opportunity


We currently have an exciting opportunity to join the CAFHS team as a
National Perinatal Infant Mental Health ForWHen Navigator on a
long term contract until 30 June 2024.


The ForWhen Navigator will triage and coordinate referrals from within SA.

The intake service will leverage existing pathways to ensure parents are referred to the right intensity of services that best matches their support needs.

The ForWhen Navigators will provide a holding function to support the parent with moderate/severe PIMH needs to access appropriate services.


About You
To be successful in this role you will be:

  • Registered or eligible for registration as a Nurse with the _Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia_ with at least 3 years post registration experience or
  • Appropriate Degree or equivalent qualification that gives eligibility for full membership of the _Australian Association of Social Workers_ with at least 3 years post registration experience or
  • Appropriate Degree or equivalent qualification and general registration with the _Psychology Board of Australia_ with at least three years post registration experience
and are an effective leader with highly developed skills in communication, problem solving, conflict resolution and negotiation skills. The ability to build strong relationships and have a working knowledge of SA Aboriginal Communities is also essential.


If you have demonstrated competence in the perinatal infant mental health area and experience undertaking a comprehensive perinatal-specific biopsychosocial assessment and formulations to inform individual care planning, then this role is for you.
