Within our Information Systems & Technology department, we are setting up an internal software development and delivery team dedicated to high-value products for Rio Tinto's digital overhaul. This team is being built in collaboration with Endava, a leading global software engineering firm.

We are hiring for various levels of positions, from junior to experienced to leadership roles, to pave the way for scaling our technology landscape towards innovative products and platforms. About the Role

We are in search of a Lead Developer who will oversee the technical delivery of one or more company products. Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the Lead Developer is driven to produce creative designs in alignment with architectural guidelines. This role involves collaboration on various projects within a multicultural, inclusive team environment. We need a team player who is enthusiastic about coding, prioritizes user experience, possesses strong communication skills, time management abilities, and a growth mindset.

The Lead Developer's responsibilities include defining technical strategies, designing, coding, testing, and documenting programs using established standards and tools to ensure well-engineered outcomes. Additionally, they offer expert guidance on programming methods for optimal technical solutions and provide leadership to Developers on the Scrum team.

We seek an individual who can build strong professional relationships with key stakeholders, tackle complex problems, and deliver solutions tailored to business requirements. You will encounter a range of challenges, from technical solutions and designs to enhancing end-to-end service delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Integral part of a Scrum team, overseeing development activities within a product.
  • Define technical strategies for developing, implementing, and supporting products to enhance organizational processes.
  • Set standards for programming tools, guide their application, and ensure adherence.
  • Take technical ownership throughout the software development lifecycle.
  • Develop project and quality plans, offering advice to systems development teams.
  • Participate in architectural, design, and product/process dialogues.
  • Propose and contribute to enhanced technical strategies.
  • Provide expert advice on programming methods, tools, and standards.
  • Evaluate and review programming methods and tools in use.
  • Monitor quality and performance to meet established criteria.
  • Coach colleagues to develop target skills and capabilities aligned with team and personal objectives.

About You

Essential:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional qualification in IT, Computer Science, or Software Engineering.
  • Minimum of five years of relevant experience.
  • Proficiency in advising on programming methods.
  • Experience with .NET Framework/CORE, test-driven development, and advanced knowledge in various technologies.
  • Strong understanding of restful principles, React, threading patterns, distributed systems, and database integration.
  • Knowledge of version control systems, unit/integration/system testing, SOLID principles, and IT infrastructure.
  • Agile processes expertise, coaching, team leadership, and interpersonal skills.

Desirable:

  • Proficiency in Software Testing Tools.
