Staff Specialist Hours Per Week: 16 Requisition ID: REQ491193 Applications are via e Credential The Infectious Diseases Department at The Children's Hospital at Westmead are seeking a 0.4 FTE (16 hours per week) Staff Specialist to join their team for 12 months, to commence ASAP until 30 June 2025.
What you'll be doing Provide excellent clinical services to children with infectious diseases and their families as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
Contribute to anti-microbial stewardship (AMS) activities to optimise use of anti-microbials for children as part of a multi-disciplinary team.Participate in review and improvement activities, as well as training and education of staff.
Abide by the hospital code of conduct and participate in annual performance reviews for clinical services in accordance with the Staff Specialist (State) Award.

Applicants must have completed the COVID-19 vaccination course prior to commencement with NSW Health, or provide an approved medical contraindication certificate certifying the worker cannot have any approved COVID-19 vaccines available in NSW.
ASARS-Co V-2 (COVID-19) 2 primary doses are required for Category A positions (refer to NSW Policy Directive PD2023_022 Occupational Assessment Screening and Vaccination Against Specified Infectious Diseases).
In addition, all Category A workers and new recruits are required to receive one dose of the seasonal influenza vaccine annually to be considered compliant.
Acceptable proof of vaccination is the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) Immunisation History Statement or AIR COVID-19 Digital Certificate. Please note:
To be eligible for permanent appointment to a position in NSW Health, you must have an Australian citizenship or permanent Australian residency.
Eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia as a Specialist in Infectious Diseases, and/or overseas trained specialist pathways.
Demonstrated recent clinical experience in Paediatric Infectious Diseases at the role delineation of the service.Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team and provide leadership of a team.
Demonstrated effective clinical communication through the use of information technology and written, verbal and interpersonal skills.
Demonstrated commitment to teaching, continuing education, research and quality improvement.
Availability to participate in an on-call roster and to respond on site within a reasonable time.
