We're working with a cool Aussie company with global recognition that is supported by some of the biggest names in the Australian tech market. They're on the search for an ambitious engineer OR architect to lead their SecOps function, open to those transitioning from an IC role into their first leadership role or someone 1-2 years into their leadership career.

In this role, you'll be the SME for all things security, advising the business and engineering teams. Your insights will help shape their strategies and lead important projects whilst keeping security at the front of mind

This company operates in a fast-paced, smaller environment. If you're keen to move away from slower large organisation's and are keen on making a true impact then this is your opportunity You'll be in charge of all things IT and security, creating and managing processes in the ever-changing world of start-ups and scale-ups

We're looking for someone with hands-on experience in the security engineering or architecture space ideally ready to lead and mentor. You will have a cloud security background with a preference for GCP.

Working with an experienced and trusting CTO committed to giving you the freedom and autonomy to lead effectively is what you'll have.

This role is Sydney based with 3 days in the office each week.

Key Duties:

  • Developing and refining the company's security strategy to align with business objectives, ensuring it's scalable and robust against evolving threats.
  • Building, leading, and mentoring a security team. This involves recruitment, setting team objectives and providing ongoing training and support.
  • Managing daily security operations, ensuring all security measures are effective and incidents are swiftly addressed.
  • Creating and enforcing security policies and procedures that comply with regulatory requirements and protect the company's assets.
  • Conducting regular security assessments and audits to identify vulnerabilities; implementing risk management strategies to mitigate identified risks.
  • Leading the response to security breaches or attacks, including post-incident analysis and implementing measures to prevent future incidents.

Qualifications & Experience

  • 4+ years in security engineering(essential)
  • Projects delivered within cloud(GCP preferred) infrastructure and services
  • Have automated security controls in GCP
  • Experience with EDR
  • Mentored and coached junior engineers
  • Cutting edge tech
  • Hybrid working with 3 days in office per week
