Furthermore, Coulson Aviation Australia is responsible for the management and operation of New South Wales Rural Fire Service-owned aircraft covering maintenance, fleet support systems, and operating personnel.

WHAT WE'RE SEARCHING FOR:

We are on the lookout for a Finance Manager with a solid financial and accounting background, along with excellent business judgment and communication skills. This role requires strong quantitative, analytical, and problem-solving abilities. The Finance Manager will be engaged in various financial activities such as budgeting, forecasting, constructing financial models, supporting financial planning, conducting research and analysis, preparing reports, and contributing to close processes. Collaboration with Accounts Receivables, Accounts Payable, and Payroll personnel, either in Canada or Australia, is also part of this role.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Engage in the annual budget preparation and periodic forecast updates
  • Monthly management reporting: Prepare analyses and reports on financial performance, key business drivers, and investigate material variances. Reconcile P&L and balance sheet accounts with proper supporting documents.
  • Taxation: Prepare BAS, GST, FBT, and PAYG returns.
  • Internal Controls: Implement sound accounting principles and reporting controls. Ensure quality control over financial transactions and reporting processes. Collaborate with the VP of Finance, leaders within Coulson Group, external partners, and regulatory bodies to enhance internal controls and comply with accounting policies.
  • Customer Profitability Analysis: Create and maintain customer margin and KPI reports for review by executives and customers.
  • Continuously enhance systems and processes, oversee process manual development for all ongoing processes.
  • Support in the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting, including corporate financial statement preparation.
  • Provide insightful financial reporting and commentary to senior leadership on a regular basis.
  • Participate in projects to enhance efficiency or quality, lead, execute, and collaborate on projects.
  • Develop and analyze operational and financial metrics to support company goals.
  • Suggest productivity improvements through process automation.
  • Effective collaboration across finance and non-finance functions.
  • Supervise Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, and Payroll activities on a daily, monthly, and quarterly basis.
  • Undertake any other relevant tasks as assigned.
Position Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business, or related field with an analytical focus.
  • MBA and/or professional accounting certification is advantageous.
  • At least 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Aviation background is highly beneficial.
  • Ability to develop and manage financial models.
  • Experience with ADP or other payroll software is a plus.
  • Proficiency in forecasting, budgeting, variance analysis, and result interpretation.
  • Ability to handle tight deadlines in a fast-paced, dynamic, and evolving environment.
  • Advanced skills in MS Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Track record in devising and executing business plans aligned with finance/accounting regulations.
  • Outstanding interpersonal communication and leadership skills to engage staff at all levels.
The salary range offered for this role is between $150,000 and $175,000 based on experience.
