As our Senior Injury Management Consultant, you will:

  • Build professional client relationships to create working partnerships and sound understanding of client needs to facilitate quality rehabilitation, return to work and wellbeing initiatives throughout the Department.
  • Ensure the department is compliant with Rehabilitation & Return to Work obligations whilst ensuring appropriate resources are available to stakeholders to achieve successful outcomes across the department.
  • Regularly review rehabilitation and return to work cases with relevant Senior Human Resource Consultants and provide tactical guidance on alternate outcomes for cases.
  • Proactively build and maintain external relationships with key stakeholders such as Work Cover Qld, QSuper, and other income protection insurers.
  • Act as the central liaison point with the department's external rehabilitation provider, ensuring robust oversight of all case management and the contract governing this service provision.
  • Assist to develop strategies and programs that will improve return to work and recovery turnaround times and reduce premiums including strategies to support prevention of workplace injuries.
  • Influence, mentor and train key stakeholders on elements of rehabilitation, return to work and injury management relevant to the business.
  • Maintain sound knowledge of contemporary rehabilitation practices to ensure currency of knowledge and skills to provide appropriate outcomes or solutions for clients.
  • Prepare reports, submissions, briefing notes, and other correspondence of a substantial and complex nature in relation to injury management, culture, and rehabilitation matters.
You may also have

  • Knowledge of the Public Sector Act 2023 will be highly regarded
  • Knowledge of the Workers' Compensation and Rehabilitation Act 2003 or experience in interstate system
  • A qualification in rehabilitation and/or injury management or a related field (such as allied health or nursing) will be highly regarded.
  • Completed the regulator approved Rehabilitation & Return to Work Coordinator Course - Queensland
  • Previous experience in rehabilitation and return to work and managing complex cases is essential.
