About the Role

The Metabolomics Australia (MA) facility at the University of Melbourne is supported by the National Collaborative Research Infrastructure Strategy (NCRIS) along with institutional funding. The UoM Metabolomics Australia facility is among the largest in Australia, offering cutting-edge mass spectrometry-based metabolomics services to researchers from academia, industry, and government. Here, you'll find a wide array of metabolomics capabilities and equipment.

We're on the lookout for a dynamic individual to join us as a Technical Assistant responsible for delivering analytical metabolomics services, providing expertise, knowledge, and training to UoM researchers and external clients. The role also involves contributing to the advancement and documentation of new metabolomics capabilities and methodologies.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Collaborating with senior staff to support MA project delivery and services to meet deadlines and key milestones.
  • Operating and maintaining advanced metabolomics-based laboratory instruments.
  • Assisting in the upkeep of the facility and ensuring smooth operations.
  • Offering technical expertise, advice, and training to clients on metabolomics methodology.
  • Playing a key role in delivering high-quality metabolomics analysis services to all clients.

Who We Are Looking For

If you possess advanced computer skills, particularly in metabolomics analysis tools, and have the ability to manage research projects efficiently, we want to hear from you. The ideal candidate will also have:

  • Tertiary qualification and relevant experience in analytical chemistry and biochemical assays.
  • Demonstrated knowledge in setting up and developing new methods for high-quality metabolomics analysis.
  • Proven ability to operate and train others in using lab equipment for metabolomics analysis.
