Davidson are currently working with a state government client who are seeking an experienced Principal Policy Officer
About the Role
The Principal Policy Officer will support Regulatory Services in establishing and operationalising the departments Regulatory Academy, with an initial focus on uplifting capability, consistency and efficiency of regulatory services within the department through the development of operational policies.
This key role will work across the span of the business to prioritise the development and refinement of operational policies, support the development of relationships across the businesses embedding change management activities associated with the establishment of new business functions.
This role will work closely with the other teams to determine means to embed these policies, such as through communication and training.
This role will be required to ensure that operational policies align with the needs of the business and also the legislative and government policy requirements.
Role
- Conduct and coordinate research, analysis and review of legislative, regulatory and associated policy, planning and economic issues to make recommendations in relation to preferred solutions related to the Regulatory Academy.
- Partner with regulatory services unites to embed regulatory craft in its policies and procures, to develop, prepare and review new policies, procedures, guidelines and supporting information.
- Establish and sustain relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Provide robust and highlevel advice to support senior management with operational policy and related regulatory service innovation opportunities.
About You
- The client is seeking a strong strategic thinker who has strong analytical skills, including experience in interpreting legislation, developing and implementing policy governance and operational frameworks to support consistency, capability uplift and efficiencies in a regulatory services environment, providing input and recommendations for the development of policy and procedures and identifying business process improvements and innovation to achieve results.
- Strong collaboration skills, including the ability to build productive relationships and stakeholders, understand and give effect to operational requirements, and persuasively communicate strategy, policy and legal requirements.
- Demonstrated experience in preparation of a range of highquality documents, preferably in relation to operational policy and procedure writing and/or regulatory implementation.
- Whilst not mandatory requirement, tertiary qualifications related to law or public policy will be highly regarded.
