SC1 Possess formal qualification in careers counselling and pathways coordination or be willing to undertake a formal qualification relevant to the position.

SC2 Demonstrated highly developed organisational, communication (verbal, written and IT skills) and interpersonal skills, including the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and demonstrated experience in working with young people.

SC3 Demonstrated ability to manage a team also with the capacity to build productive relationships with key stakeholders within the school, across the education sector and wider community to provide organisational benefit.

SC4 Demonstrated knowledge of VET/SWL/SBATs and work experience programs, including software packages.

Role:

Objectives will, generally, be clearly defined; guidelines will be broad and day-to-day direction mínimal. Management responsibility extends to ensuring appropriate support levels are maintained across the school.

Range 4 generally provides key support and timely advice to the leadership team and school council and liaises with the general school community, the Department and other government agencies and service providers.


Specialised professional roles will carry a high level of independence and accountability where suitable scope is provided to achieve objectives.


An education support class position supports the educational services being provided to students, but must not include duties of teaching as defined in clause 2.6.1 of the Education and Training Reform Act 2006 (Vic) or its successor.

Supervision of students cannot be required except where it is an integral part of the employee¿s position or involves supervision of students individually or in small groups, in controlled circumstances, where the responsibility for students remains clearly with a teacher.

The Pathways Coordinator has responsibility for developing and implementing a whole school approach to managed individual pathways and pathways programs.


Specific Duties:

  • Development and implementation of a whole school approach to managed individual pathways.
  • Coordination of the work experience program including liaising with external businesses and organisations, placing students and organising visits by teachers to students on placement.
  • Liaising with the Senior School Team and other key personnel to implement the work experience program.
  • Liaising with the Curriculum Leader in the development, implementation and evaluation of MIP's programs and strategies.
  • Organising career information sessions, including mock interviews, career expos, Back to School Day, visiting speakers including past students, relevant information and publicity.
  • In conjunction with the key personnel and leaders in the school, coordinate the transition of students from Year 10 to the Senior School by preparing and disseminating information, organising class lists and managing student programs.
  • Ensuring that each student in Years 1012 has a Career Action Plan. In addition, develop and maintain these student files so that they will assist Council, Education Committee, the Principal and teachers to recognise and accommodate the needs of all post compulsory aged students attending the school.
  • Monitoring the destinations and pathways of all post compulsory aged students who leave the school, for a minimum of six months after their departure.
  • Providing group and personalised careers counselling to students and their families.
  • Managing the program budgets associated with the Pathways programs.
  • Liaising with the Principal Class and being responsible for the administrative tasks associated with the Pathways area.
  • Manage the Morrisby career assessment tool for all year 9 students.
  • Administer the Head Start program.
  • Manage the students in the Vocational Major Program and Structured Workplace Learning (SWL)
  • Other duties as instructed by the Principal
