School of Agriculture and Environmental Science

The School of Agriculture and Environmental Science was established to employ world leading researchers to help create world-changing results. This position will join the School of Agriculture and Environmental Science crop molecular genetics team, working on collaborative projects with the Centre for Crop Health.

Who you are

Candidates should have demonstrated knowledge in bioinformatics to use genome, transcriptome, comparative genomics and next-generation sequencing based strategies to dissect genes and pathways.

What you'll do

As Research Fellow (Bioinformatics) you will be utilising short and long read sequencing, transcriptomics, comparative genomics, and mutagenesis-based strategies to identify key genes and pathways associated with disease resistance or susceptibility in wheat, barley and cotton. You will support postgraduate research students undertaking similar projects within the team and will collaborate with leading wheat research labs within Australia and overseas.

What will help you succeed

Key to your success in this role will be your relevant qualification in molecular genetic analysis of disease/pest resistance in crops or its related wild species, and your high level effective communication and interpersonal skills.
