Based at one of Aurizon's Coal depots in the Hunter Valley Operations (Newcastle, Quirindi or Antiene)

Aurizon's Coal Division is looking for a passionate and highly motivated Operational Training Superintendent.

Focused on leading and managing the training and development plans for the Hunter Valley region to ensure training compliance and competency of operational employees.


About the role

  • Deliver an effective training program to ensure employees attain/retain the required skills & qualifications to perform their roles
  • Facilitate a collaborative positive learning environment
  • Spending time in field engaging with Traincrew to Identify opportunities for continuous improvement
  • Engage and coach supervisors regarding training, workshops and training needs analysis
  • Data analysis and reporting on training compliance and activities
  • Collaboration with the Corporate training team, leveraging expertise in providing business solutions
  • Build positive workplace relationships with all stakeholders.
  • Take accountability and ownership for the training and compliance of operational employees
  • Manage training costs in line with the Hunter Valley budget providing monthly reports.

About you

  • Demonstrated experience in large scale logistics/heavy industry in the design and execution of training programs
  • High level of operational business management skills including budget, problem solving and change management
  • You will have the ability to effectively engage leaders and team members, set clear direction and provide coaching and mentoring
  • Cert IV in Training or a relevant tertiary qualification
  • You will be energetic in your approach to this role and eager to encourage people to excel.
  • Knowledge of contemporary and traditional training methods
  • Exception verbal and written communication skills.
