PIMS Mining has been awarded preferred tenderer status by Malabar Resources to provide services at the Maxwell Underground Bord and Pillar Operation located east of Denman and south of Muswellbrook in the Upper Hunter Region, New South Wales.


The mine construction is well underway with the first PIMS Mining team members required to mobilise to site in January 2023.

PIMS are now seeking an experienced

Health, Safety and Training Coordinator with a can-do attitude along with having the ability to drive our safety culture, provide continuous improvement and enhance our productivity programs.

About the Role


Reporting to the Production Superintendent and as an integral part of the team, the primary purpose of this role is coordinate the planning and scheduling of a planned and defect maintenance tasks for all the Underground Equipment at Maxwell Bord and Pillar Underground Operation.

The minimum skills and expectations for this role are but not limited to:

  • Manage and monitor the effectiveness of the Safety and Health, Management Systems on site and provide advice to the senior leadership team on possible improvement initiatives
  • Provide Safety knowledge to the operations team
  • Understanding of processes and frameworks within the open cut and underground coal mining industry including knowledge of related New South Wales legislation
  • Facilitation of Critical Risk Assessments and mentoring of the risk assessment process across front line and middle management teams
  • Coordinate the Critical Control Monitoring Program
  • Engage with the workforce to encourage a culture of safety and a safe working environment.
  • Coordinate the maintenance of the Safety & Action Management Data Base


 Maintain safety statistics
  • Lead & Lag indicators by conducting analysis on safety and health data and compiling relevant reports
  • Develop and oversee the health and hygiene monitoring program
  • Assist with audit and inspection programs
  • Lead incident / accident investigations (ICAM)
  • Monitor the implementation of safety programs and participate in safety interventions
  • Manage site return to work and rehabilitation programs
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory bodies and standards
