We are seeking passionate learning designers dedicated to advancing, integrating, and infusing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander knowledges and perspectives into ECU learning experiences.

These opportunities are offered in accordance with section 50(d) of the Equal Opportunity Act 1984 (WA) and the occupants of these positions must be of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent.

Summary
Edith Cowan University (ECU) has a strong commitment to social justice and decolonising the University's curriculum and practices. The Centre for Learning and Teaching is at the forefront of supporting the infusion of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander content and perspectives throughout curriculum and teaching across all disciplines.

To drive this crucial work, we recognise the need to appoint an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Learning Designer to provide specialist guidance in designing and delivering high-quality and culturally appropriate learning experiences that engage students with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander knowledges, histories and cultures. This role is a pivotal step towards ECU transforming its curricula through a sovereignty lens which values and elevates Indigenous ways of knowing, being and doing.

The Roles
As the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Learning Designer/Senior Learning Designer, you will guide ECU's efforts to transform curricula by infusing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander content, perspectives, and histories.

You will partner with key stakeholders to advance the University's agenda in relation to equity, diversity, access, and inclusion for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Responsibilities will include:

  • Consult and collaborate with ECU's Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community and external stakeholders to develop resources centring Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander knowledges, histories, and cultures through culturally responsive pedagogies.
  • Provide guidance to ensure quality learning experiences engage students with Indigenous content and perspectives.
  • Assist with curriculum-mapping to assess the infusion of Indigenous knowledges across all courses at ECU.
  • Coordinate professional learning experiences using existing resources.

The successful candidate/s will be supported by colleagues in the Centre for Teaching and Learning and Kurongkurl Katitjin, ECU's Centre for Indigenous Australian Education and Research.

Learning Designer

  • Experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and communities, along with in depth understanding of Indigenous cultures, histories, and knowledges.
  • Demonstrated experience in learning design and/or qualification in a relevant field.
  • Ability to apply learning design principles and evidence-based approaches to design impactful and inclusive learning experiences.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, especially interpersonal skills and ability to build and maintain strong relationships with diverse stakeholders, and colleagues at all levels.
  • Demonstrated commitment to continuous improvement and lifelong learning.
  • Desirable: Experience supporting academic staff to transform their curriculum and practice with high quality, engaging, innovative and inclusive approaches.

Senior Learning Designer

  • Experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and communities, along with in depth understanding of Indigenous cultures, histories, and knowledges.
  • Master's degree in relevant field or can demonstrate experience and expertise equivalent to those qualifications; applicants who are in the process of obtaining those qualifications are also welcome to apply and discuss appropriate support to be provided to assist in completing studies.
  • Ability to apply learning design principles and evidence-based approaches to the design of professional learning programs.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, especially interpersonal skills and ability to build and maintain strong relationships with diverse stakeholders, and colleagues at all levels.
  • Demonstrated commitment to continuous improvement and lifelong learning.
  • Experience supporting academics and teaching teams to transform their curriculum and practice with evidence of impact (e.g. adoption of high quality, engaging, innovative or inclusive approaches and improved learning outcomes).

Benefits & Remuneration
These full time, fixed term positions attract remuneration of $100,512 to $112,622 pa (HEW 7) and $115,042 to $129,573 pa (HEW 8) plus 17% University superannuation contribution.
