Senior Instrumentation Designer

As a Senior Instrumentation Designer, you will report to the I&C Department Manager and the Project Manager. The job involves carrying out FEED, detailed design, and execution support tasks. It's a full-time position primarily located at the Head Office on St Georges Terrace with occasional visits to Kwinana.

What you'll do

We are seeking a Senior Instrumentation Designer to join our team in Perth.

The responsibilities of the role include:

  • Deliver discipline-specific design and drafting services meeting company, client's, and Australian statutory requirements.
  • Complete design and drafting tasks as per project requirements, deadlines, and budgets while reporting to the Discipline Lead/Project Manager.
  • Lead and oversee design and drafting tasks with the Workshare team and head office project designers; maintain coordination as needed for effective design execution.
  • Assist in scoping requirements and estimating design budgets for client proposals alongside Bid Managers and Lead Engineers.
  • Facilitate communication within the project team, workshare team, and other disciplines on electrical matters, addressing interdisciplinary interfaces.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with stakeholders such as vendors, clients, workshare team, and project team.
  • Proactively resolve discrepancies between project scope, company, and client requirements, contributing to the enhancement of design systems and processes.
  • Identify issues, propose solutions, seek assistance when needed, offer technical support to teams, engage in project reviews, and consult with relevant resources.
  • Possess thorough knowledge of design documentation and various diagrams, layouts, and systems, ensuring effective end-to-end design solutions.
  • Have expertise in PLCs, Distributed control systems, emergency shutdown systems, and fire and gas systems for practical design solutions.

What you'll have

  • Experience in the Hydrocarbons industry (preferred) with a relevant Diploma in Instrumentation or equivalent.
  • Significant technical experience in the industry, including multi-disciplinary project involvement.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and MicroStation CAD systems, with familiarity in SmartPlant Instrumentation database or 3D modeling as a bonus.
  • Effective communication skills for collaboration with teams, disciplines, clients, and suppliers.
