About the role

The Portfolio Analyst will report to the Managing Director, Institutional Business Asia Pacific, and will work closely with other team members across the Institutional Business group.

The Portfolio Analyst will be responsible for supporting Portfolio Managers in the overall development and implementation of client farmland investment strategies in Australasia.

This will include financial analysis of hypothetical client portfolios with the dual goal of improving portfolio performance and ensuring the objectives and constraints in client Investment Management Agreements are met.


  • Provide portfolio analytics in support of the development and ongoing management of client portfolios.
  • Prepare materials for client portfolio reviews and participate, with Portfolio Managers, in the presentation of materials in client meetings.
  • Write management commentary, in consultation with operations teams, to accompany quarterly client financial reports.
  • Respond to client questions and requests for data and analysis.
  • Assist Portfolio Managers in the development and implementation of acquisition funding strategies, including: preparing investment offering materials and operating and financial model development.
  • Evaluate and document acquisition and disposition opportunities.
  • Evaluate historical and projected portfolio performance.
  • Monitor economic trends in global farmland markets.
  • Develop and improve analytical processes and reporting capabilities.
  • Review and analyze property budgets and longterm management plans.
  • Other ad hoc duties may be assigned as necessary to assist in the development and management of all aspects of the client relationships.

About the person

  • Possess a bachelor's degree with a major in Business, Agriculture, Forestry, Finance or Economics.
  • Have a general knowledge of investment and portfolio management and alternative asset classes, specifically real assets with ideally a minimum of three years of experience in agricultural investments.
  • Have a firm grasp of investment strategy and financial analysis with genuine interest in agriculture assets highly desirable.
  • Be an effective team player with excellent organizational skills, ability to meet deadlines, work collaboratively and have strong communication skills.
  • The ability to interact and build relationships with individuals at all levels of the organization and with external parties.
  • Desire to obtain/progress towards CFA or CAIA designation.
  • Display a high degree of selfmotivation and professionalism and work as a team player.
  • The ability to present analyses in a clear and concise manner both verbally and written.
  • Be selfmotivated and able to work autonomously in a fastpaced environment and with dispersed teams across multiple geographies and time zones.
