Job Opportunity

We have a great opportunity for a proactive and talented Controls Engineer to join our Engineering Group. This role is key in implementing electrical control systems, covering design, documentation, testing, and commissioning of materials handling automation hardware and PLC software. The position involves travel to various customer locations to meet work demands.

Key Responsibilities:

- Developing functional specifications
- Ensuring compliance with OHS&E standards in all work aspects
- Creating electrical schematic drawings, PLC programs, and configuring operator interfaces
- Generating manufacturing and installation specifications
- Planning and supervising major controls installations
- Overseeing parts procurement, cabinet manufacturing, and electrical installation
- Controlling project costs for controls projects
- Conducting testing and commissioning at customer sites
- Preparing test plans, operator & technical manuals
- Training client personnel and offering customer support
- Handing over projects to the Customer Service team

What we offer:

Key skills, qualifications, and attributes required:
- Degree in an Engineering or scientific discipline
- Ideal for candidates with 5-7+ years of experience in electrical design and installation
- Proficient in AS3000 & AS4024.1 requirements
- Experience in machine control, safety principles, and functional safety
- Familiarity with materials handling system controls
- Ability to write technical documentation
- Knowledge of PLC configuration, programming (preferably Siemens S7), variable speed drives, barcode scanners, and safety devices
- Experience in managing installation teams
- Willingness to travel for project activities in Australia and occasionally overseas
- Capability to work in a project-based setting within a multi-disciplinary engineering team
