The Role:

The Interpretation Officer is responsible for the delivery of educational tours and supporting events. We have multiple vacancies at two locations, being Western Treatment Plant, in Werribee and at Edithvale-Seaford Wetland Education Centre.

The role is key to Melbourne Water's commitment to working with the community to meet our vision of enhancing life and liveability.

You will be part of a team of 7 Interpretation Officers. Our Interpretation Officers support learning growth in what Melbourne Water achieves and the state of the environment.

Our most regular audience groups are school groups ranging from upper primary through to tertiary, special interest groups and community organisations such as seniors/retirees.

You will be joining a water literacy team that educates on the importance of water.

Both locations offer a unique work setting and this role is a stepping stone to getting into an organisation that is focused on environmental health and the well-being of Victorians.


Your Skills and Experience:


As you will be interacting with and educating a diverse range of groups - schools, community and potentially industry and international delegations - you will have a high standard of communication skills.


Not only does this involve a systematic way of presenting and learning facts and figures, it also means being a confident and engaging person and able to take your audience along on a journey.


Your confidence will be evidenced as you adjust your delivery of information to meet the audience requirements such as the different age groups and professions.

On the job training is provided. Any formal knowledge or qualification in education, environmental science, science or geography will be an advantage.
