We currently have a permanent, full time opportunity for a Strategy and Planning Consultant to join our highly professional and collaborative Strategy Department.

This role will report to the Manager Strategy and Planning.


The Strategy and Planning Consultant will be responsible for supporting the development and maintenance of the organisation's strategy and associated strategic planning documents.

This role will also assist in supporting divisional leaders in the development and review of their own sub-strategies that they align with, and support the implementation of the corporate strategy.

What you will be doing

  • Support the Manager Strategy and Planning to manage the bank's approach to corporate strategy and implementation
  • Support the delivery of the bank's annual strategic planning process, including updates to the Strategic Plan and Business Plan
  • Support the delivery of periodic (2 per year) strategy and planning update events with Executives and Senior leaders
  • Support the Manager Strategy and Planning to coordinate the Board's annual strategic planning meeting
  • Monitor and report on the progress implementing the bank's business and departmental plans
  • Provide advice to senior leaders on matters relating to the bank's purpose, impact focus areas, aspiration, performance and approach to strategy and planning
  • Deliver strategic planning workshops in collaboration with the Manager Strategy & Planning
  • Identify and provide early warning of any risks or deviation from achieving the bank's strategic objectives, and resolve issues by initiating appropriate corrective actions where appropriate
  • Monitor trends, evolving threats and opportunities as well as emerging ecosystem developments of importance to the bank, and bring relevant insights for consideration
  • Provide support to divisional strategy development, review and planning processes, where requested and where resources allow, and ensure that all substrategies and plans are aligned with the Corporate Strategy
  • Facilitate planning workshops to assist annual divisional planning process
  • Collaborate with the Internal Communications Lead to deliver communications and engagement activity across the organisation on the strategic plan
  • Support efforts to build employee engagement with the bank' strategy, purpose, aspiration and values.

What you will bring

  • Previous relevant experience in strategy development, stakeholder engagement and program development. Experience in developing and implementing commercial strategies with an impact lens will be particularly desirable
  • Experience with strategy frameworks and the development, implementation, monitoring and review of corporate strategies
  • Ability to think strategically, with experience in business planning and business strategy development
  • Skilled at investigating, researching, analysing trends, diagnosing problems and issues and recommending solutions and actions
