Purpose of the role

The main role of this position in Portfolio Management Unit (PMU) involves analyzing data and supporting the design of portfolio risk parameters, monitoring credit risk and concentration risk at a portfolio level for Global Corporate & Investment Banking for APAC (GCIB APAC). This includes inputting and calculating essential data to establish clear boundaries (e.g., pre-limits, attention, de-framing) for key metrics, modeling potential stress scenarios to adjust to market conditions, and reporting and offering recommendations to senior members/management regularly. Additionally, this role entails acting as a liaison between the front office and credit team to evaluate risks in the credit portfolio across sectors and countries, and updating the monitoring framework.

The company is open to hiring the best-suited candidate for this position in Singapore, Melbourne, or Sydney.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Collect and analyze the necessary data to develop the credit risk strategy and guidance for the loan portfolio in sectors/countries across GCIB APAC.
  • Establish portfolio risk parameters and set and monitor clear boundaries (e.g., pre-limits, attention, de-framing) for each metric to manage credit risk and concentration risk in each sector/country.
  • Regularly update and improve the monitoring framework based on market developments/conditions, including early warning indicators.
  • Consistently report and provide recommendations to senior members/management for new/updated guidance to enhance credit risk management of the portfolio.
  • Monitor the risk parameters in each sector/country and concentration risks within GCIB APAC against thresholds and targets, categorizing metrics into stages to take suitable actions.
  • Conduct periodic reviews of the watch list portfolio and high-risk transactions.
  • Model potential stress scenarios to adjust the profit and loss to market conditions, including potential increases in credit costs, provisions, and risk-weighted assets in sectors, countries, and the overall GCIB APAC portfolio.
  • Collaborate with Relationship Managers, sector teams, credit divisions, and risk management offices to develop the credit risk strategy and update the monitoring framework by reflecting the latest market conditions.
  • Lead communication to coordinate with internal stakeholders to implement the portfolio strategy.
  • Take responsibility for working closely with a direct supervisor, seek advice, and guidance to contribute to the entire department.
  • Manage resources within the team and continually improve processes and tools.
  • Enhance processes and tools continuously in collaboration with relevant teams.
  • Maintain the MIS tool and data properly to calculate and update the risk monitoring framework.
  • Independently and proactively manage own tasks, involving regular progress reports to the direct supervisor.
  • Follow directions from the supervisor and manager and handle additional tasks as required.

Job Requirements:

  • 5 years of experience in the financial industry
  • 3 years of experience in credit risk and concentration risk management at a portfolio level, credit costs, risk weights, and early warning frameworks.
  • Experience in managing stakeholders.
  • Strong strategic planning skills and effective communication/presentation skills to influence stakeholders
  • Completed a relevant Bachelor's degree or higher
