Turn to Teaching Internship Program, Third Intake

Successful applicants will receive a pre-tax scholarship payment of $20,000 (over 4 instalments) in their first year of full-time Initial Teacher Education study and a paid internship in a QLD State School (25 hours a fortnight) while completing their second year of study part-time.
The internship attracts a full-time teacher salary with a support network including a supervising and mentor teacher and access to a Community of Practice to share experiences.
EligibilityApplicants must have an undergraduate degree (minimum 3-year Bachelor) in a field other than education/teaching and meet the requirements of one of the following categories:
- Individuals who have not previously commenced an initial teacher education (ITE) program and are:
- Individuals that have previously commenced but not completed an ITE Program as follows:
- Individuals who have commenced an ITE Program and are not eligible for any recognised prior learning from a partnering HEI (usually commenced ITE program 10+ years prior).
Eligible applicants must also:
- be eligible for enrolment in one of the following ITE programs, for the 2024 intake:
- Master of Primary Teaching or Master of Secondary Teaching at Griffith University
- Master of Learning and Teaching (Primary) or Master of Learning and Teaching (Secondary) at the University of Southern QLD
- Master of Teaching (Primary) or Master of Teaching (Secondary) at QLD University of Technology
- Master of Teaching (Secondary) at University of Sunshine Coast
- Master of Teaching (Primary) or Master of Teaching (Secondary) at Southern Cross University
- Master of Teaching (Secondary) at Australian Catholic University
- be willing to undertake an internship in 2025 at any state school in Queensland;
- be an Australian citizen or have permanent residency status in Australia.
[2] Priority locations include means QLD State Schools in Local Government Areas other than Brisbane City Council, Gold Coast City Council, Noosa Shire Council and Sunshine Coast City Council.

Successful applicants will receive a conditional offer of placement into the TTT Program until evidence of acceptance of enrolment into the relevant post-graduate ITE program at a participating HEI and confirmation of approved Teaching Areas is provided.
Permanent employment will be offered upon completion of your ITE course and the TTT Program, confirmation of registration with the QLD College of Teachers (QCT) and meeting all departmental minimum requirements for employment.

The scholarship funds will be deposited in four installments into the recipients' bank account. All payments are taxed as they are earned (i.e. taxed on lump sum of $5000) and may affect the recipient's annual income and/or benefits received. It is recommended that financial advice is obtained from a financial advisor, the ATO and/or Centrelink.
