About the Role

The Training and Communications Officer role at Australian BioCommons is pivotal in coordinating and delivering a national bioinformatics training program, focusing on BioCloud Division's initiatives. The successful candidate will cultivate strong relationships with stakeholders, develop training materials, and manage training events to support BioCloud services and projects. This position offers an opportunity to expand communication activities, optimise web presence, and enhance the reach of Australian BioCommons training and services.

Your responsibilities will include:

Producing new training materials for bioinformatics platforms in collaboration with technical experts and other subject matter experts (including webinars, workshops and documentation and instructional videos) Working with the BioCloud technical team to produce technical documentation for BioCloud activities and services. Proactively maintaining strong relationships with staff in the Australian BioCommons Hub and affiliated organisations, to keep actively abreast of stakeholder needs.

Who We Are Looking For
The successful candidate will possess a deep understanding of the life science research environment, with experience in computational methods. They should excel in communicating technical concepts effectively, both in writing and orally, and demonstrate strong interpersonal skills to collaborate with scientists and the broader research community. Additionally, they should be proactive, capable of identifying and capitalizing on new training opportunities, and adept at managing competing priorities both independently and as part of a team.

You will also have:

Tertiary qualification in life sciences, computational biology or computer science. Ability to work collaboratively and manage competing priorities. Capacity to identify and capitalise on new opportunities to deliver training in collaboration with external providers and local communities. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with scientists and the broader research community and to understand their needs.
