Sentara is currently seeking a Community Health Educator for a position in Rockingham, VA. Sentara RMH Medical Center, which has a rich history dating back to 1912, serves a seven-county area with nearly 218,000 residents. The 238-bed community hospital joined the Sentara Healthcare system in 2011. The medical center has conducted a comprehensive community health needs assessment to address critical areas. With over a century of experience, Sentara is a not-for-profit healthcare system operating multiple care sites across Virginia and North Carolina.This role involves engaging in health promotion activities and implementing best practice public health strategies and interventions to enhance well-being. Responsibilities include developing and delivering educational programs, educating patients on disease self-management, promoting disease prevention, and offering guidance on available resources.Additional Details:
  • Clients include new parents or those expecting below 20 years old, ideal for individuals interested in working with adolescents.
  • Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, with flexibility based on client availability for home visits.
Job Requirements:Associate's Level Degree; Experience may be considered in lieu of education. Ideally, 1-2 years of public health or social work-related experience is preferred, with a minimum of 2 years required in the absence of an Associate's degree.
